Soundwave and Pals

World of Warcraft and getting things done

This won't come as a surprise to anyone but I'm starting to realize just how much my playing World of Warcraft is cutting in to me getting shit done.

I think what's making this apparent is that I now have several things in my life that I'd rather do than play WoW, whereas in the past WoW was about it. With me drawing and writing more (and enjoying doing both) it feels a bit like, for the first time, playing WoW is the thing I want to get done so that I can do more enjoyable things.

I know for sure that some of this is also a result of the raiding in WoW being boring lately, the guild I'm in has stopped making progress and started to actually do worse and worse every week. I have no desire to log on when we aren't raiding and so there's no connection to the people in the guild byond wanting to kill bosses and get purples. I don't want to just abandon the guild though, there are 3 real life friends in there and a lot of folks that have been nothing but nice to me.

Eventually I'll have to pick what matters the most to me, between doing the art that I love to do (and which could become more than a hobby) and obligation to people I barely know.

Transformers Toys and Unwarranted Panic

Today I want give you a glimpse of just how crazy I can be at times.
One of the many(many) toy lines that I buy on a regular basis is Transformers, and specifically the ones not based on the movie designs. I don't really like the movie ones, they look too much like robot bugs or something, I miss being able to see which part of the robot was which part of the vehicle.
There's one toy line out there that's specifically meant to be classic inspired toys, Transformers Generations, but Reveal the Shield also sports some in that vein.

Anywho, the stores are starting to clear out their current Transformers inventory to get ready for the big push for the new movie (Dark of the Moon) this summer. What this means is that there won't be any shelf space for the Transformers I want to buy in favor of a several variations of Bumblebee the Camaro.

The effect this is having on me is to start me to freaking out as there are I think 5 different Transformers I'd like to get my hands on without ordering them online. When I see the lines these toys are in getting clearanced I know this means the store won't be carrying them anymore and then I start to semi-panic myself into finding any way I can to get my hands on the figures.

It's silly, to say the least, and my current plan is to just wait and see if I find them in the wild. After all, these toys end up on a shelf after a few days of me taking pictures and writing about them at best. It doesn't make it any easier for me to see other people finding them though, I guess steering clear of toy websites would be a good first step but I don't see that happening.

Welcome!

Hello folks.

My name is Jon and I'm a pretty regular guy I guess.
I work at a smallish hotel managing the front desk.
I'm married to a woman who makes me extremely happy. We've been together for almost 10 years, married for about 3 of them, and I couldn't be more pleased with our relationship and friendship.

My wife and I have 4 guinea pigs that bring me just about endless giggles, they're hilarious animals that make me laugh all the time.

I collect action figures, toys really, and things that I probably wanted and definitely never got when I was a kid. Everything from He-Man, G.I. Joe and Transformers to Ghostbusters and Voltron hangs out on the shelves at my home.

I draw a lot, if it'll make my wife smile then it's fair game.

I write a good bit as well, toy reviews and the occasional article for www.infinitehollywood.com. It's a good site full of pop culture info that should be of interest to just about anyone.

I also play World of Warcraft a little bit, not nearly as much as I used to but still enough that it needs to be mentioned here.

I plan to fill this space with random thoughts, drawings of things that I love and maybe some fiction if I get ambitious. Check back with me from time to time, I plan to post semi-daily and will do my best to stick to that.
Test!
